The school is currently a level 5 primary school in the North Metropolitan Region. The administration team is comprised of a principal and two deputy principals. Senior teachers and special responsibility allowance teachers support the school through their roles in curriculum coordination, administration and professional development.
A Manager Corporate Services and School Officer work with the school administration and a Library Officer manages the extensive school library and Teacher’s Resource Centre. Education assistants support teaching staff in the Pre-Primary and Kindergarten areas, while others work with special needs children throughout the school.
The buildings are of modern design and well equipped. All buildings are air-conditioned and the P&C has provided paved areas, seating and pergolas to create a comfortable learning environment. A specialist teaching block, completed in 2011, caters for Japanese, Science and Music. A state-of-the-art Kindergarten and Pre-Primary Centre was also completed in 2011.
Specialist programs within the school are languages - Japanese from PP-6, Music Years 1- 6, Science Years 1-6, drama and physical education across all primary year levels. The school choir performs publicly and has received very high commendation. Sporting teams have won many local competitions in a variety of sports.
Information technology is a priority at Woodvale Primary School. Each classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and workstations. A modern, permanent laboratory, together with a mobile laboratory bank of IPads integrates technology by utilising a combination of laptops and personal computers.
The School Board is comprised of five parent members and three staff members, including the school principal. This group meets throughout the year to monitor and discuss relevant aspects of the school plan. A specific focus in the school has been the adoption of Friendly Schools Plus, Values Education Program and a Bullying Prevention program, which will continue as an integral part of social development across all year levels. The program addresses many issues and contributes to friendly and positive learning.
