A central hub of the community, WPS is well supported by a dedicated and hard-working P&C who fundraise and provide in-kind support to add-value to the educational opportunities provided at our school. The School Board provide strong governance, support and community voice to the strategic direction of the school.
As an Independent Public School, Woodvale continues to forge strong relationships with other local schools, particularly Woodvale Secondary College. The creation of a “Learning Community” has enhanced the educational outcomes for our students. In 2022, many of our Year 6 students will attend Woodvale Secondary College in Term 4 to participate in a transition program ensuring that they are well-prepared for the leap into their next phase of schooling.
Woodvale Primary is an inclusive school. Students are encouraged to celebrate differences and welcome others into the school community. Whole school approaches to Social and Emotional Learning support the development of considerate, responsible and friendly students. Refinement and rejuvenation of whole school approaches to behaviour are a key focus for school improvement.
The school has been a dominant force on the sporting field for a number of years, winning 14 of the past 18 Interschool Athletics Carnivals. Olympians, Tina Morgan (2008) and Casey Dellacqua (2008 & 2012 ) are both graduates of Woodvale Primary, spending all of their formative years as part of our school community. In 2011, Rohan Bewick became the first Woodvale graduate to play AFL football.
Woodvale staff continue to work together in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for their students. Professional learning to upskill and inspire our teachers and education assistants, to ensure student needs are met, is a key focus for our school.
Education is a collaborative process and clear, positive communication between parents and teachers is a vital feature of our school. Your feedback, ideas and contributions to our school are welcomed. </p>
Warm regards
