Sustainability

Woodvale Primary School

Sustainability education focuses on protecting environments and creating a more ecologically and socially world through informed actions.

Woodvale Primary School has been an accredited WasteSort School since 2022 and we pride ourselves on our environmentally friendly practices, led by Mrs Scott and the Science and Sustainability Captains and Crew.

Our students work hard to implement sustainable practices across the school. All students recycle their food scraps which are collected in compost bins then used in our worm farms. The worms produce Worm Tea which the year six classes sell as part of their business project in the mornings before school.

At Woodvale Primary, we recycle paper and cardboard, AA and AAA batteries, and printer cartridges, as well as participating in Containers for Change by recycling plastic bottles and cans.

The community garden is where students are encouraged to grow their own food. We received a Woolworths Junior Land grant to refurbish the community garden in 2023.

To further improve our sustainability practices, we are introducing Waste Free Wednesday starting from Term 2, 2024.
