TECHNOLOGIES

Woodvale Primary School

Our students are preparing for the future  by developing the understandings and skills to analyse and respond to design and/or digital challenges.

All students from kindergarten to Year 6 participate in weekly technologies lessons, delivered by classroom teachers, focused on digital and design technologies. Critical and creative thinking skills are encouraged through rich learning experiences where students are asked to apply their understandings to real life situations.

In addition to explicit lessons focused on the skills and understandings of the technologies curriculum, students use technology purposefully throughout the week. Banks of iPads and laptops are shared between classes to enrich student learning across the curriculum.

Our technologies lead teacher who works one day per week, manages all staff and student devices and works shoulder to shoulder with teachers to support the development of their skills in utilising technology to transform student learning - enabling students to harness the power of the tools available to them to present information in ways never before possible. This includes the use of robotics and circuitry, coding, and apps such as Green Screen, QR Codes, iMovie and more.
