In Kindergarten, the development of curiosity and knowledge in number, measurement and geometry and probability is the key focus of mathematical learning tasks. Students develop their understanding of key counting principles, spatial awareness, representing ideas and concepts in creative ways, and problem solving through a variety of play-based activities and supportive questioning and guidance from teachers and education assistants.
From pre-primary, students learn mathematical concepts through the use of manipulatives, real-life situations, game-based learning, and explicit teacher modelling. Students demonstrate their understandings by completing tasks in their Oxford Maths textbooks, and through problem-solving activities.
